Genuine Panasonic NCR18650BD Core – 3200mAh typical capacity provides excellent runtime with stable voltage output.
Built-in PCB Protection – Automatically prevents overcharge (≤4.28V), over-discharge (≥2.5V), and external short circuits. No separate protection circuit needed for single-cell use.
10A Continuous Discharge – Safely powers most regulated LED flashlights, headlamps, and portable electronics without tripping.
Flat Top & Button Top Options – Flat Top suits spring-contact devices; Button Top adds a raised positive nipple for reverse-polarity protection or certain battery trays.
Long Cycle Life – Retains ≥70% capacity after 500 standard charge/discharge cycles, reducing total cost of ownership.
Ready for Harsh Environments – Operates from -20°C to 60°C, perfect for outdoor, camping, and industrial use.
4-Pack Convenience – Enough cells to power a set of headlamps, keep spares for a flashlight, or equip family outdoor gear.

✅ Recommended For (Single-Cell Use, Safety-Sensitive)
LED Flashlights & Torches – Especially those without built-in low-voltage protection; the PCB prevents over-discharge damage.
Headlamps & Bike Lights – Single-cell, often used in motion, where a protected battery adds an essential safety layer.
Outdoor & Camping Gear – Lanterns, portable fans, and GPS devices that may be left on accidentally.
Children’s Toys & RC Remotes – Short-circuit and over-discharge protection keeps kids safe and batteries alive.
Wireless Security Cameras & Smart Locks – Replaces factory batteries reliably, with protection if the device’s own circuit fails.
Medical Devices – Blood pressure monitors, portable diagnostic tools where safety cannot be compromised.
Single-Cell Power Bank Shells – Some DIY power bank cases lack protection; a protected cell adds an extra safety net.
❌ Not For
Multi-cell Battery Packs – Stacking individually protected cells in series can cause BMS conflict. Use unprotected cells with a single external BMS.
High-Drain Vaping (Sub-Ohm) – Exceeds the 10A safe continuous limit, and the protection PCB may nuisance-trip under pulse loads.
Devices with Tight Battery Compartments – The protected cell is ~70mm long; many compact flashlights require the standard 65mm unprotected length.
Q: What is the difference between protected and unprotected 18650 batteries?
A: A protected battery has a small circuit board (PCB) added to the negative end that prevents overcharge, over-discharge, and short circuits. This makes single-cell use much safer, especially in devices without their own battery management. The trade-off is a slightly longer cell (69–70mm vs 65mm) and slightly higher internal resistance.
Q: Can I use these in series for a higher voltage pack?
A: Not recommended. Multiple individually protected cells in series can cause unpredictable cut-offs because each cell’s PCB acts independently. For series or parallel packs, use matched unprotected cells and a single external BMS designed for the pack voltage and current.
Q: Will this fit my flashlight?
A: Please measure your flashlight’s battery tube first. The protected NCR18650BD is approximately 69–70mm long, while standard unprotected 18650s are about 65mm. Many high-end flashlights that use springs can accommodate this extra length, but ultra-compact or tight-fitting models may not. If in doubt, check your manual or the manufacturer’s specifications.
Q: Does the button top have any performance difference compared to the flat top?
A: Electrically, the core cell is identical. The button top adds a small raised positive terminal for devices that require physical reverse-polarity protection or lack a spring contact. There is a negligible increase in internal resistance (a few milliohms) that does not affect normal operation.
Q: Can I charge these with any 18650 charger?
A: Use a quality Li-ion charger with CC-CV algorithm. Most universal 18650 chargers that accept the extra length (70mm+) will work. Do not use chargers without overcharge protection, even though the cell has its own, as a secondary layer is always safer.
Q: Why only 3200mAh and not 3500mAh?
A: The NCR18650BD is an excellent balanced cell – 3200mAh with a true 10A rating. The 3500mAh NCR18650GA is also available in protected form, but if you need the combination of solid capacity and 10A capability at a slightly more cost-effective price point, the BD is a top choice. For maximum runtime in very low-drain devices, the GA is the way to go.
